In 2020. I got a new laptop for my wife. I had a very clear idea what I was looking for back then, now in 2022. things have changed
In 2020. my laptop requirements were:
- Ryzen CPU (fuck Intel with their let’s repack the same CPU and call it random word + lake)
- SSD (no battery eating hard disk)
- Illuminated keyboard (work in dim enviroment)
- Fingerprint reader (I hate typing password all the time)
- Upward/front firing speakers (no muffled mids)
- USB C power supply (easy replacement, use almost any charger, one charger for trip for phone and laptop)
- USB C full service (connect one cable to hub and have it all, HDMI, Lan, Mouse, Keyboard, Printer…)
- 16Gb Ram
- 512Gb SSD
2022. update:
- OLED screen
- 16:10 screen proportion
- 120hz refresh rate screen
- DDR5 memory
- Dual channel memory mode
- PCIe 4.0-5.0 NVMe SSD
- Hi-res web cam
- 4-6 speakers system
- Bass rich sound
- Zen 4 architecture Ryzen CPU
- RDNA 2 integrated GPU
- Very large touchpad
- No numerical keyboard
- Touchscreen
- WiFi 6e (7 ASAP)
- 32Gb Ram
- Linux compatibility
- BIOS ability to set F keys on/off at boot
I was working on a project with my wife for few days and I was using her laptop. It was a very pleasant experience. Am I an asshole for having all these specs for my personal laptop, yes I am. Will I ignore them and buy a normal laptop, NO.
Why have I made this page, these listings? To help my self “heal” and NOT waste money, meaning to buy any laptop that is ok, NOT to be a fuckwit and postpone laptop for another year 🙂 🙂 🙂
